Temple sur Lot

Bonsoir, depuis vendredi nous sommes en stage à Temple sur Lot. Chaque année j’y passe pour rencontrer et parrainer l’équipe de France junior, mais mes derniers souvenirs en tant que rameur commencent à dater.

Cette fois nous ne sommes que quatre convoqués : Maxime, Pierre, Stany et moi. Damien a dû rester sur Lyon pour passer des examens, tandis que Morgan s’en est allé à Libourne pour s’essayer à la pointe et tester des appairages.

Il s’agit d’un petit stage. Nous ne restons qu’une semaine dans le Sud-Ouest. Pour une fois Stany se trouve près de chez lui. Le programme d’entrainement ne fait pas de cadeau à l’approche des Fêtes : nous ramons tous les matins en 4x et alternons les séances de « cardio » et de musculation l’après-midi. Je profite donc de la seule demi-journée de repos pour vous donner des nouvelles du front.

Depuis le début les sensations en bateau sont vraiment bonnes. La composition va légèrement changer demain matin : Pierre monte au 2 et Stany au 3. Max et moi gardons nos places respectives par contre. Les conditions météo sont plutôt clémentes pour l’instant. Pourvu que cela tienne jusqu’à samedi.

Une grosse délégation de kayakistes biélorusses est aussi sur la base. Pour l’instant la cohabitation se passe bien. A suivre…

Good evening. We are on training camp in Temple sur Lot since Friday. Every year I go there to sponsor the Junior National Team and share my experience with the new generation. However, my memories as a rower on this stretch of water are somewhat dated.

Only four rowers are on this camp: Maxime, Pierre, Stany and I. Damien had to stay in Lyon to take an exam and Morgan went to Libourne to trial with the sweep group and to try to find a rowing partner.

It is a short one-week camp in the South West of France. Stany is close to home for a change. No preferential treatment regarding the training program even if Christmas is only a few days away. We row every morning in a quadruple scull and we either lift weights or erg in the afternoon. Today is my only afternoon off and I take advantage of it to give you some news.

We have a good feeling together in the quad so far. We will try a new line-up tomorrow morning. Pierre will be at 3 seat and Stany at 2. Max and I stay respectively at bow and stroke seat. The weather treats us well so far. Fingers crossed that it will stay this way until Saturday.

A large group of kayakers from the Belarus are on-site with us. Cohabitation is going well so far. Watch this space…
